Navigating The Ins And Outs Of Foster Parent Adoption

Foster parents hoping to adopt need experienced representation, and Hughes Law Center is a well-recognized strong deliverer of foster parent adoption services in Arlington and beyond.

Hughes Law Center is a CPS vendor. This means that if you are adopting a child from Child Protective Services (CPS), in most cases, 100 percent of your adoption fees will be covered. Our firm is passionate about what we do and will be there for you during times of special challenges for foster parents like you who hope to adopt. We are a family-oriented firm that regularly, eagerly and successfully handles cases just like yours.

Kellye Hughes has represented hundreds of foster parents — those wishing to adopt, those ready to adopt and those involved in legal difficulties related to fostering — in multiple counties across Texas.

Kellye Hughes is dynamic in the courtroom and skilled in negotiations with CPS. She understands that this is a high-anxiety situation and wants to help you reach a satisfactory conclusion.

Our firm also represents foster parents, whether they plan to adopt or not, in hearings before the State Office of Administrative Hearings.

When A Foster Parent Relationship Or Potential Foster Parent Adoption Is Complicated By CPS Actions Or Birth Family Issues

Foster parents are often advised by CPS that they cannot intervene in a court case unless they have had the child in their home for 12 months. This is inaccurate.

We do not advocate intervening in a CPS case when the birth family has made significant improvements. Placement of a child with his or her birth family is almost always best. However, many times the birth parents do not make adequate improvements to enable them to safely parent their children. Many times, CPS wants to place the foster child with biological family members who are also unsafe. Foster parents — our clients — can reach out to Hughes Law Center for advice and assistance.

Foster parents will be advised by both CPS and their agency to not go to the court hearing. This is also inaccurate, ill-advised guidance. The court, not CPS, will determine the permanent placement of children.

Foster parents often need competent representation in these matters. Kellye Hughes has represented hundreds of foster parents in multiple counties across Texas. She is dynamic in the courtroom and skilled in negotiations with CPS. She understands that this is a high-anxiety situation and wants to help you reach a satisfactory conclusion. If you win your CPS case, CPS will be obliged to pay the attorney's fees. You may accomplish a foster parent adoption at no cost to your family.
